My Approach
I am someone that does not like pain. I don’t like feeling it, and I do not like inflicting it. I have spent my entire career developing my skills with the intent to assist my clients in reaching their health and wellness goals without causing unnecessary discomfort.
At no point during a session should you feel the need to “brace yourself”, (curl your toes, grit your teeth, hold your breath, etc.) All of those are indications that your muscles are tightening, when the goal with most healing bodywork is to get your muscles to relax into their proper resting length when not in use.
By combining techniques from a variety of bodywork and healing disciplines, I hope to leave you feeling pain-free and relaxed physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
What to Expect & How to Prepare
For most sessions you can expect to add 15-20 minutes to the length of your session for me to set-up and pack-up. For example, if you schedule a 90-minute session, I will most likely be there for one hour and 45 minutes.
I will arrive at your session clean and hygienic and I expect the same of you. I do require access to a restroom in order to wash my hands before and after the session. Also, if requested, I will wear a mask out of respect for any health exposure concerns you may have.
I will need a space at least 9 feet by 6 feet in order to function properly. Please take this into account and relocate items before I arrive. If you need assistance I am happy to help; please let me know in advance so that I can schedule my time appropriately.
In general I bring everything I need to perform your session. If you require a special accommodation of some sort, such as a specific lubricant or additional body supports please tell me in advance so that we can work together to take care of your needs.
I encourage you to remove all of your garments for the massage as it allows me unrestricted access to your body. I offer an array of draping options to maintain your modesty and will never touch inappropriate areas as defined by Florida law. I will step out of the room in order for you to undress and redress. You may always leave on any garments you choose if that will make you more comfortable.
I will have music/background sounds available but you may listen to whatever you like during your session. My advice is to pick something without lyrics so that you can detach and relax.
The amount of talking during a session is up to you. I am happy to go the entire length of the session with only minimal check-in and instructions. I have found that keeping conversation to a minimum is best to allow your body’s healing processes to take over. That said, if you feel like chatting, go right ahead, I don’t mind!
Essential oils are available upon request. Most of the lubricants/products I use are scentless and hypoallergenic, so if you desire an olfactory experience as well please inform me.
Services
I rarely perform a “pure” technique, meaning I do not normally complete a full massage using only a single technique. Almost all of my sessions use a blend of various modalities. The exceptions are Lymphatic Drainage and the Ayurvedic offerings.
If you would prefer a straightforward session in of the techniques listed below, just ask! I will let you know if what you are asking for is beyond my competence; I will never claim expertise I do not possess.
You may notice that I do not have a service called "deep tissue massage". I find that people confuse deep tissue with deep pressure and I prefer to be more precise. Instead, I would suggest either an Orthopedic Massage or Myofascial Release.
Swedish Massage
Characterized by light to firm superficial pressure with the goal of alleviating tension and generalized pain and soreness. This is the most typical massage performed in the USA and is what most of people think of as a massage.
Orthopedic Massage
A collection of techniques with the goal of reducing specific pain, speeding post-injury or post-surgical recovery and restoring mobility.
Sports Massage
Similar in many ways to Orthopedic Massage, usually includes active and passive stretching with an emphasis on pre-event preparation or post-event recovery.
Myofascial Release
This is a very slow modality that uses little or no lubricant. It can get very intense, so proper communication is important. This technique is usually used to release deep, chronic muscle tension to decrease pain and increase range-of-motion. Only one or two areas are treated in a one-hour session; multiple hours are needed to address the entire body.
Lymphatic Drainage
Slow, very light, rhythmic motions designed to pump lymph through the body. It is typically used after an injury or surgery to reduce swelling, but is also useful for people with chronic swelling/fluid retention. This is often focused on only one or two areas of the body at a time. Due to its ultra-low speed, a full body session could take several hours. Please note that I approach this from a medical/healing perspective and do not offer it for rapid slimming (aka - Brazilian Lymphatic)
Thai Massage
Not really a massage the way Westerners think of it, closer to assisted yoga with compressions. Traditionally performed on the floor with the client fully clothed, the therapist uses hands, elbows, feet and knees to do the work. I do not offer floor Thai but instead a variation performed on the massage table.
Ayurvedic Massage
Ayurveda means “science of life” and is the traditional form of medicine centered in India. To perform it properly requires an initial consultation to identify your Vakriti (state of imbalance) and Prakriti (basic constitution). This work is performed using appropriate oils to rebalance your energy. I offer two services:
-
Abhyanga, which uses warmed oils and is best for stress/anxiety and improved circulation
-
Udwarthana (or, Udvartana), which is slightly exfoliating and is best for sluggishness, obesity, cellulite and lymphatic congestion. This is also a good choice for a mid-day massage because it is very stimulating and uses an herbal powder instead of oils.

A travel fee applies for locations outside of Pinellas County. For Hillsborough county it is $25. Other areas negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
The client is expected to pay for any garage parking that may be required. I will always seek street/metered parking rather than garage parking if it is available within two blocks of your location.
